When presenting these results, Google clearly shows the natural searches (based on keywords and link popularity) differently from the paid AdWords campaigns. These are clearly labelled as “Ads”.
The AdWords service from Google is also called “PayPerClick”. This is because the web site owners do not pay until a user clicks on one of the ad snippets that are displayed. Your position on the Ads section depends on how much you are prepared to pay for each Click. The higher you maximum bid is, the higher your ad appears. The actual amount you pay when your ad is clicked depends on the bid of the next lowest one. This means that the amount charged to you is often less than the maximum that you bid.

A recent study by Citibank shows that a whopping 86 percent of US small businesses said they have not used social networking sites for information or business advice. Ten percent said they have sought business advice and information on expert blogs. Three-quarters of small businesses said they have not found sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn helpful for generating business leads or expanding business in the past year. Not sure about the UK numbers but I reckon they are even higher.
SMBs often think that social media is more for big corporations and premium brands. However social media is useful for almost every type of business. Pubs, retail stores, and even professional services can leverage their online reputation and increase credibility. Here is why:

We are witnessing the end of an era. Since the end of the World War 2, large companies have controlled the ebb and flow of the US economy: from the reign of the Detroit automakers to the rise of west coast tech moguls like Microsoft and Google. Small businesses have been the tiny vessels tossed in the wake of gargantuan tankers, forcing their products on consumers through sheer bulk.
The tides are changing though- the failing American economy has exposed the incapability of big business, spotlighting bullheaded corporate practices and broken supply chains. The changing times have given way to opportunities for smaller businesses to navigate the economic waters through nascent, cost-effective technologies. Unlike the slow moving behemoths of old, start-ups have the ability to rapidly change direction and adapt to newly minted consumer demands. Young companies now have access to a plethora of new tools that utilize the internet to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.

Is it time for yu to get more business? A major source of new business is the Google local business directory. They are now calling it “Google Places” and it is very similar to the Yellow Pages of old. In fact, some people call it the Google Yellow Pages. When a person types in a request, like “Real Estate Agent” into Google the computer tells Google where you are located in the world so that it can give you Places local results.
This business directory must be a part of your local business marketing plan. Good reviews are an excellent way to get a high ranking inside the Google Places directory. How can you get good reviews on Google Places? Ask your current customers. One of my customers owns a real estate agency. It only takes a minute for her to ask her renters to sit down and write a review for her in the office. She did this when they all came in to pay rent. She now has tons of great reviews and a high ranking. You can ask your customers to rate your service, but it is even better if you engage them and get them to do it right there in your office.

Small Business Online Marketing and Advertising
In the past, only large businesses executed high-priced online advertising and marketing. Back then, local establishments did not see any need to conduct online marketing. But now, searches for small businesses or local businesses have replaced the white and the yellow pages. Now, if local business is not found on page one of a Local Search Engine (SERP), your local establishment may not continue to exist.
This piece of writing will supply some tools and processes that local establishments can make use of to bring more trade to their small corporation. These can be categorized as internet ad postings on classified ad sites, video infomercials, producing a website and making it visible to the public, setting up your Google Places account, and harnessing the power of social networks.
